Perpetūra
Five women. One feeling none of them can name.
Perpetūra is an interactive novel: literary romance you read and steer in the browser, now complete at five stories. Three are scattered across the centuries, a fourth is set in the present day, and a fifth waits past the end of that one, for the readers who earn it. Each follows a woman who carries a feeling she cannot explain. Your choices shape who she trusts and how her story ends.
The stories stand alone, but they are not separate. Something older runs beneath all of them, and it is not what it seems.
I write and build it under the Lacunae name. It's the reason lacunae-loom, an authoring tool for this kind of fiction, exists on my bench too.
Joseon-era Korea in 1742, Belle Époque Paris, Tang-dynasty China, a fourth set in the present day — and a final story past all of them, best discovered on your own. Each woman carries the same unnamed feeling.
First person, past tense, choice-based prose. More than one possible love interest per story.
A silent lean system tracks your choices invisibly. You never see a meter. You navigate by feel. Solo path is a first-class ending, not a fallback.
An atlas of connections and lore that fills in as you read. Entries unlock through story beats; nothing is handed to you.
All five stories are live and nothing is waiting to be added. Hyunjae, Reine and Liuyan open it; the fourth, set in the present day, unlocks once you have finished those three, and that is where the novel truly begins. The fifth is not chosen from a menu. It is earned. All of it now also sits on a shelf, as two books.
The five stories are also published as two Kindle ebooks, for readers who would rather turn pages than steer. Each volume takes one route through each story and reads straight through: nothing to choose, nothing to unlock. Book One, The Ones Before, holds Hyunjae in Joseon Korea, Reine in Belle Époque Paris and Liuyan on the Tang dynasty Silk Road. It is out on 18 September 2026 and the pre-order is open. Book Two, The Origin, carries the pattern back to where it started and follows on 25 September. Both are Kindle only, under KDP Select, and included in Kindle Unlimited.
The routes, the casts, the beat-by-beat outlines and the initial prose are mine, all written down before any drafting. I draft each chapter myself, a model drafts alongside me, and I write the final one from all of them and edit it line by line. No page is published as a model wrote it.
The character art, the covers and the artwork on the site are AI-generated from descriptions I wrote, then finished by hand. The score and the sound are AI-generated to fit the direction I set. The generated art stands in until commissioned work can take its place.
